Show up in search engines (SEO)
Set the title and description Google shows for your website, and for each blog post.
Search engines show a title and a short description for each page. You control the ones for your homepage and for each blog post.
Your website's title and description
- Open Website > Content and choose SEO.
- Page title: what shows as the link in search results and in the browser tab. Put your name, what you shoot and where. For example: Jane Lee Photography, family and newborn photographer in Austin.
- Description: one or two sentences, about 150 characters, that make someone want to click.
- Click Save.
Blog posts
Each post has its own Search engines box on the post's page:
- Title for search results: leave it empty to use the post's title.
- Description: leave it empty to use the post's short intro.
These save with the post's Save button.
What Apture does for you
- Your site has a sitemap listing your main pages (home, portfolio, services, about, contact, booking) and every published blog post, so search engines can find them.
- Your own domain helps people remember and find you. See Connect your own domain.
Tips
- Use the words people type, like "newborn photographer Austin", in your headline, About text and service descriptions, not only in the SEO box.
- Write photo descriptions under Website photos. They're used as captions and help describe your images.
- Blog posts about local places and sessions give search engines more to find. See Write a blog post.
- Search engines can take days or weeks to notice changes. That's normal.
