Lock downloads until the balance is paid

You can publish a gallery before your client has paid in full, and hold back downloads until they do.

Turn it on

The option only appears for galleries linked to a booking, because Apture needs a balance to check. Create the gallery from the booking with New gallery (see Create a gallery).

1. Open the gallery's Settings tab.
2. Tick Lock downloads until balance is paid.
3. Click Save settings.

The gallery shows a locked until paid pill.

What your client sees

• A banner saying their photos are ready to preview, and that downloads unlock once the remaining balance is paid, with the amount.
• A Pay balance button that takes them to their client portal to pay.
• Photos shown as smaller previews (1200px) with a "PROOF" watermark across them.
• No Download button, and no downloads from the full-screen view.

They can still love, pass and rate photos, so you can use a locked gallery for proofing.

Unlocking

There's nothing to do. As soon as the booking's balance reaches zero, downloads open and the watermark goes away. That happens when:

• The client pays online (from the portal or a payment link).
• You record a payment made outside Stripe on the booking.
• You lower the booking's price so nothing is owed.

You can also untick Lock downloads until balance is paid at any time to unlock it straight away.
