Sell gift cards on your website

You can sell gift cards on your website. Buyers pay by card into your Stripe account, and Apture emails the code to the person it's for.

Turn it on

You need Stripe connected (see Connect Stripe to take payments).

1. Go to Money > Gift cards.
2. Under On your website, tick Sell gift cards on my website.
3. In Set amounts ($), type the amounts to offer, separated by commas, like 100, 200, 500. Each is $5 to $10,000, and up to eight are used.
4. To let buyers type their own amount, tick Let buyers choose their own amount and set the Lowest other amount ($) and Highest other amount ($).
5. Optionally, add A line for the page.
6. Click Save.

Your gift card page address then shows under the form, and Open page lets you see it. It's also linked in your website's footer.

You need at least one set amount, or buyers choosing their own.

What happens when someone buys one

1. The buyer picks an amount, enters their name and email, the recipient's name and email, and an optional message, then pays through Stripe.
2. The recipient gets an email with the amount, the message and their code (like GIFT-7K3M-QX9P), with a Book a session button.
3. The buyer gets an email saying the card is on its way. Stripe sends their receipt separately.
4. You get a notification that a gift card was sold.

How recipients use it

• When they book, in the Gift card box on the booking page. It pays the deposit if it covers it, and anything left comes off the balance.
• On their balance later, in their client portal under Have a gift card?

A card can be used in parts, across bookings, until it runs out.

In your books

A card sold online counts as income on the day it's sold. When it's spent on a booking later, that spending isn't counted again. See Accounting.
