Email capture and passwords
Decide who can open a gallery: anyone with the link, people who give an email, or people with the password.
Each gallery has two optional gates. Set them on the gallery's Settings tab.
Ask for email before viewing
On by default. Visitors type their email before they see the photos. This gives you:
- A list of everyone who opened the gallery, on the People tab.
- Favorites, passes and star ratings for each person. Without an email, visitors can view and download, but they can't heart, pass or rate photos.
- A tick box for visitors to join your mailing list ("Send me the occasional note about new sessions and dates."). The People tab shows who ticked it.
Password
Type a password in Password (optional) and save. Visitors then need it to get in. The pills at the top of the gallery show password and email capture when they're on.
To change a password, type the new one in New password (leave blank to keep). Changing it signs out everyone who got in with the old one. To remove it, tick Remove password and save.
Apture stores passwords scrambled, so you can't look one up later. Keep a note of it if you'll need it again.
After 10 wrong tries in 15 minutes, a visitor has to wait a few minutes before trying again.
What visitors see
The sign-in screen shows your studio name, the gallery title, the cover photo and the photo count, with a View gallery button. Once in, the device remembers them for 30 days.
Clients signed in to their portal
A client who opens a gallery from their client portal goes straight in, with no email or password step, as long as the gallery is linked to them or one of their bookings. They still appear on the People tab.
With neither gate
If you turn off email capture and set no password, anyone with the link can view and download.
